Incomprehensible

I don't understand why Liverpool spent so much money on two strikers when they really need is some good midfielders. Their bad midfield cannot pass the ball up to the strikers, which is why their strikers were ineffective.

Day 3 Match Reactions

I set my cell phone alarm clock at 6:30 this morning hoping to wake up in time for the Ghana match, but my phone failed me so I woke up naturally at 7:30 instead. I heard the noise of ever present vuvuzela horns from the tv downstairs... my dad was watching the recorded Slovenia match...

Day 2 Match Reactions

Even though today is Saturday I didn't feel like getting up at 4 am to watch the South Korea-Greece game. Today had the much anticipated Argentina debut and the overly hyped rivalry match between the US and the England. I got up at 6:30 am just in time for the Argentina game, and soon after I flipped on the tv, the commentator announced the Korea game score, so that means I won't be watching that! I hate watching a match after having already known the result.

France v. Uruguay

I don't have much to say about this game. It was pretty boring, and I spaced out on many occasions during the match. Though I had expected it though since I bet with my family that they would draw. Group A is completed and each team gets one point, which means this group is still wide open.

I have to credit the Uruguay defense for holding up against France even when they were down to 10 players, but the tackle on Sagna was absolutely red-card deserving... luckily he was fine. The only player that impressed me in this game was Diego Forlan, He was always a threat when Uruguay had chances. I especially like that he is always involved in the midfield and not isolated upfront. Gourcuff was disappointing most of the match except that one freekick that was blocked by the keeper. Govou's miss was unbelievable, but since I was slightly rooting more for Uruguay, it was fine with me that he missed it.

Anyway, the highlight of the game came after the match ended. ESPN was showing the highlight of Henry begging for handball at the 88th minute and the commentator said: "that's not a handball, you know what handball is Thierry..." Good job commentator, I laughed hard.

South Africa v. Mexico

I can't believe the World Cup is finally here and the first match has been played. Due to the dreadful time difference, I was up by 5 am watching the opening ceremony. I can hardly think what I have to do on days where some games start at 4:30 am! Although I doubt I will wake up for a 4:30 am S.Korea-Greece or a Algeria-Slovenia game..they will be recorded though.
